Happy New Year- it’s officially 2019! I’m so excited for all the new content I have planned for you guys on A Cup of Owl, Instagram, and my YouTube channel. I’m planning on organizing myself even more and really be consistent with all my platforms this year.

First, I couldn’t resist stepping on the trend to do a Best of 2018 Skincare post. Instead of doing my usual monthly favorites, I will skip over December and go to all the products I’ve enjoyed using in 2018. I’ve decided on only some categories, but please comment if you have a different category you’re curious about. Enjoy!

COSRX Low pH Good Morning Cleanser
It’s been a couple of years since I’ve used this cleanser. This is one I can use anytime in the year and see the same results. It’s also one of the best OG low pH cleansers perfect for sensitive, oily and acne-prone skin. I don’t use this for my PM cleansing routine, but I like to use this for mornings!

Farmacy Green Clean Cleansing Balm
I’ve tried many cleansing balms in 2018 and this was my favorite one. This lightweight balm removes all the makeup perfectly (that I use at least), and is also very gentle on my skin. Some balm-to-oil cleansers leave my skin feeling squeaky clean and dry. However, this one leaves my skin feeling very hydrated while removing all the oil completely. This product was also spill-proof, which made my travel life easier in 2018.

Acwell Licorice pH Balancing Cleansing Toner
Literally finished 5 bottles of this in 2018. This is a great toner that I go back to despite trying out a lot of different toners. This was also mentioned in my go-to summer skincare routine, and I clearly love it. It’s great for sensitive skin and also leaves my skin feeling smooth and plump every single time.

Etude House Soon Jung pH 5.5 Relief Toner
This is also another great toner, and I can speak more generally for this one. It’s a toner that can literally work for any skin type. It’s the most gentle toner I’ve used and it also has a clean ingredients list. The watery consistency also made it easy for me to use it as a toner pack for when my skin is feeling dry.

Farmacy Honeymoon Glow
I’ve introduced this into my routine the last half of 2018 (tested samples before I bought myself a full-sized bottle). My skin is used to stronger acids, so the 14% AHA/BHA/gentle flower acids blend in this serum worked well for my skin but it may be too strong for newbies. If you’re new to acids, I strongly recommend using the Pixi Beauty Glow Tonic. It’s the only resurfacing night serum I’ve used this year (the Drunk Elephant Glycolic Night Serum is on my wishlist for 2019) and I use it 2-3 times/ week.

Skin Accents Desensibilizing Serum
I’ve praised this skincare product earlier and how it changed my skin. It calmed my skin amazingly every time I had redness and inflammation. Make sure to check out the before and after pics in the post!

Glow Cycle Retin-ALT Power Serum
Shared this in my September favorites and I raved about it so much on my Instagram. It was my first time trying Bakuchiol, a natural ingredient used for those allergic to retinol. The beautiful purple serum applies easily on the face, smells amazing (still can’t figure it out), and it instantly brightens and firms my skin. Will rave about the color forever!

Moisturizer/ Cream

IOPE Derma Gentle Cica Cream
Have you seen my October favorites ? It’s been my holy grail skincare product in 2018 when my skin went through mega breakouts. I don’t know why, but my skin was especially at its worst in 2018. Anytime I had a breakout, this cream really helped me recover and create a healthy barrier to prevent future breakouts.

May Lindstrom Blue Cocoon
I’ve used it as a moisturizer and as my DIY sun screen. This pot is SUCH a splurge but I absolutely love it so much. I read lots of mixed reviews on blue tansy but I personally don’t mind the smell at all. In fact, I love blue tansy so this balm is just heavenly for me! It’s soooooooo calming.

Farmacy Honey Potion
This was the first product I tried from the skincare brand Farmacy in 2018. Honestly, my first impression was just “okay” to be honest. I do love it after using it consistently throughout the year. It looks like honey and turns white and warms up once it touches your skin. It’s also really hydrating, which is why I like to use this 2-3 times/ week to replenish my skin.

Bliss Pore Patrol Mask
I love clay masks because they really help with sucking the oil out of my face. This one specifically has bentonite clay and also glycolic acid for gentle exfoliation. I’ve used this one more than my other clay masks in 2018. One reason is because of the consistency. It’s so lightweight and does not dry stiff. This made the wash off process so much easier! Another reason is because of the texture, which reminds of a mousse.

That wraps up my Best of 2018 Skincare! Hope you guys enjoyed this post, and hopefully, you enjoyed some of these products as much as I did.

As always, thank you for reading 🙂
